Berlin, 01 March 2022. Tele Columbus AG and ARD reach a new agreement concerning their future cooperation and create a legally secure basis for the use of digital offerings as well as the distribution of ARD television and radio programmes across the Tele Columbus Group network.
The agreement now concluded governs the distribution of all ARD television and radio programmes across the Tele Columbus network. It ensures for both parties that all offerings of ARD in all forms and resolutions can be made available in a legally secure manner across the Tele Columbus Group network.
The comprehensive agreement is the result of a long and intensive negotiation process in which both parties took the full scope of legal and technical requirements into consideration.
“We are very happy that the intense discussions about this agreement have reached a positive conclusion and that the terms of the programme distribution across our networks are stipulated in a legally secure manner,” says Stefan Riedel, Chief Consumer Officer of Tele Columbus AG, on the outcome of the negotiations. “A feature we are particularly proud to point out is that we can provide our customers with a wide range of ARD content as well as multimedia offerings on demand.”
Professor Dr Jens-Ole Schröder, General Counsel of MDR and the head of the ARD’s negotiation team: “With this agreement, ARD and Tele Columbus have created a reliable basis for a good cooperation enabling the content of ARD to be distributed and consumed in an optimal manner across the networks of Tele Columbus. The agreement creates transparency and security.”
