Tele Columbus AG expands Management Board

Berlin, January 23, 2023. Tele Columbus AG today announces the expansion of its Management Board. With this step, the responsibility for the business areas that are of highest strategic importance for Tele Columbus will be located directly in the Management Board. For this purpose, the Management Board will be expanded from two to four members and strengthened with external hires.

Technology and housing industry as growth drivers

With the expansion of the Management Board, Tele Columbus is strengthening its focus on technology and the cooperation with the housing industry, thus enabling the company to capitalize on further growth opportunities. The close and cooperative partnership with the housing industry and the consistent expansion of the fiber network and broadband penetration are key tenets of the Fiber Champion Strategy and thus important growth drivers for Tele Columbus AG. For this reason, the essential functions of the Chief Sales Officer Housing Industry & Infrastructure (CSO HI&I), responsible for the existing and new customer business with the housing industry, and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), responsible for the entire technological development in the company, will henceforth be located in the Management Board.

Reinforcement and expansion of the Management Board with Christian Biechteler and Michael Fränkle

As of February 1, 2023, Christian Biechteler, who was most recently Director of Sales at Vodafone and responsible for National Key Account Management in Germany as well as Sales in the Berlin/Brandenburg region, will be appointed to the Management Board as Chief Sales Officer Housing Industry & Infrastructure. At the same time, Michael Fränkle will join the Management Board of Tele Columbus AG as Chief Technology Officer. He was most recently CTO at TDC NET A/S, the largest telecommunications provider in Denmark.

Marc van’t Noordende, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Tele Columbus AG, says: “The gigabit market in Germany is now being built out with fiber. It is the stated ambition of Tele Columbus to be one of the leading fiber network providers in Germany. From our point of view, the management has to be close to the business, especially in the strategically crucial areas, which is why the P&L responsibility needs to lie with the Management Board. This is what we are achieving with the new structure. We are very pleased that we were able to attract a team of proven industry experts with many years of leadership experience to the now expanded Management Board of Tele Columbus.”

On the occasion of his appointment, Christian Biechteler says: “The housing industry is a particularly important customer group for Tele Columbus. The successful cooperation is based on longstanding relationships, a partnership collaboration at eye-level and a product and service offering on the part of the fiber network operators that is always at the cutting edge of technology. I look forward to further expanding and strengthening this close cooperation in my new role at Tele Columbus.”

Michael Fränkle added: “For a fiber network operator like Tele Columbus, technology platforms and IT are the basis for successful business operations. With its Fiber Champion Strategy, Tele Columbus has defined the clear ambition to become one of Germany’s leading fiber network providers. This requires state-of-the-art and high-performance infrastructure. I will continue to build and expand this in my new role as CTO together with the Tele Columbus team and the great technology and service partners.”

Information on the new Management Board members

Christian Biechteler will start as Chief Sales Officer Housing Industry & Infrastructure of Tele Columbus on February 1, 2023 and will join the Management Board as part of the Management Board expansion. Christian Biechteler comes from Vodafone, where he was most recently Director of Sales, responsible for National Key Account Management in Germany as well as Sales in the Berlin/Brandenburg region. At Tele Columbus, he will continue to expand the business with the housing industry and drive forward the cooperation with the consumer-business segment (B2C).

Michael Fränkle will also start at Tele Columbus on February 1, 2023 and will join the Management Board as CTO (Chief Technology Officer). In this position, he will be responsible for the company’s technology platform and IT, as well as the development and implementation of construction and infrastructure projects, network operations and technical service. Michael Fränkle comes from TDC NET A/S, the largest telecommunications provider in Denmark, where he most recently held the role of CTO.

Nahe Düsseldorf betreut der Standort Ratingen den Glasfaserausbau unserer Kunden und Netze an Rhein und Ruhr.
