Fibre-optic roll-out for WIS and GWG
Fibre-optic network expansion in Lübbenau
Berlin/Lübbenau, 23 September 2022. The Tele Columbus Group is to provide 6,200 homes administrated by housing associations WIS Wohnungsbaugesellschaft im Spreewald mbH and GWG – Gemeinschaftliche Wohnungsbaugenossenschaft der Spreewaldstadt Lübbenau eG with high-performance fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) internet connections. The construction work has already started and involves the creation of 17 kilometres of new underground fibre-optic lines.
Tele Columbus and its brand PŸUR is a long-term partner of the two major housing associations in the town of Lübbenau, which manages over 6,000 residential units. The fibre-optic network operator currently supplies residents with TV, internet and telephony services through a hybrid fibre-optic network. The next stage of the development process involves FTTH connection upgrades, with the fibre-optic technology being installed directly in homes. Residents will have long-term access to high-speed, reliable internet connections with speeds of up to 1 gigabit/s, even as usage continues to increase.
Work to expand the regional network hub in Lübbenau has started, with a new 17 kilometre fibre-optic line being constructed and fibre-optic cabling being extended into residents’ homes. Once the work is completed in spring 2023, Tele Columbus will provide an attractive range of internet services – as well as the usual cable TV connections – from its PŸUR brand that meets every need, from entry level to the high bandwidth required for home working and streaming services. The new fibre-optic network is also available for use by other providers, meaning that residents will have a choice of a variety of products and services.
